Recently, Mount-Yu-Shang-Lake was officially approved as provincial tourism resort by Jiangsu Provincial Government. Including Shangjiabang tourism resort, by now there are 2 provincial tourism resorts in Changshu. According to the approval of Jiangsu Provincial Government, Mount-Yu-Shang-Lake Tourism Resort covers a planned area of 11.5 square kilometers, reaching the merging area of Zhangjiagang and Yuanhetang in the east and the converging area of Liulitang and Zhoutang River in the west, adjacent to Shang Lake Scenic Spot northward and looking over Wangyu River westward.

        Founded in 2008, Mount-Yu-Shang-Lake Tourism Resort is located to the northwest of the urban area of Changshu, where Mount Yu and Shang Lake coexist and complement naturally. As an important base of Changshu’s enduring history and culture, of its unique fusion of mount, lake and city, this tourism resort had been successively approved as National Forest Park, National Urban Wetland Park, National 5A level Tourism Resort, and Suzhou city level tourism resort in 2011. In addition to mountain tourism resources of rare stones, mountain streams, cliffs, caves, etc and water body tourism resources of Shang lake’s 800 hectares of limpid water, there is also Kiang-nan countryside theme of Changshu’s yearly harvest. All together, Changshu possesses 8 main types of tourism resources, 23 sub-types of tourism resources, and as many as 41 basic types of cultural tourism resources. After a couple of years’ cultivation, Mount Yu and Shang Lake have formed characteristic festival activities in four seasons, peony fair in spring, Baoyan waxberry festival in summer, Taigong gourmet festival in autumn, and rally for New Year’s bell-ringing in winter. Apart from that, there are Shang Lake Dragon Boat Race, Shang Lake music-beer festival, Shang Lake Mid-autumn Night of fireworks, Mount Yu city-wall lantern show on National Day, golden autumn gourmet festival, etc.
