Shanghu Lake Scenic Area

Shanghu Lake Scenic Area lies adjacent to Yushan Mount Scenic Area. The name “Shanghu” was derived from a legend that Jiang Shang1156 BC- 1017BC, a famous statesman and strategist in China’s remote antiquity, fished in the lake. It is composed of CulturalPark, Lotus Pond, Fisher’s Islet, Low Dam, and PeonyGarden known as a crowning glory south of the Yangtze. Tourists here are slated to have a great opportunity to enjoy natural beauty, artificial creation, lake view and cultural heritage. They can do outdoor sports like golf, experience a dreamlike drizzle near the waterside, picnic along the banks of the lake in the daytime, and appreciate the rare scene of Silver Moon in the Aperture in the evening. Green mount standing nearby, with its reflection swaying in the lake, birds soaring and chirping in the air, and thin mist hanging over the water, they all make your thoughts rocket into the depth of the universe or sink into the most secret corner of your heart to wake up your real selves.

Masterly plant landscapes here and there help main spots of Lotus Pond, Fisher’s Islet and PeachIsland, etc. make a marvelous integrity. Two man-made wetlands of mainly taxodium ascendens, planted forests along the dam, and marshes where myriophyllum verticillatum, eel grass, and potamogeton play, are ideal habitats for wintering birds, no more and no less. New ShanghuLake cherishes an acreage of 800 hectares. Its vast water surface, the meandering Yushan Mount nearby, green islands, and the blue sky roll into a live landscape painting.
