Shajiabang Scenic Area

Shajiabang Scenic Area is a stone’s cast away from Yangchenghu Lake. Crisscross rivers and streams, in addition to a sea of lush reed and willows in its territory, endow it with a typical southern China pastoral scenery. In its sea of reed, the New 4th Army men fought bravely with local people against the Japanese army and won many glorious victories. Based on such battle stories, the Shanghai opera Seed of Hope in Reed Marshes and the Beijing opera Shajiabang came into being and brought to the stage throughout China, making Shajiabang a household name in China.

In recent years, Shajiabang made great use of its rich revolutionary history and abundant touristic resources to boost its tourism. Reed marshes, holiday resorts, educational exhibition halls, Congfu Temple, and Yangchenghu Lake Mitten Crab Market have formed a full complement for tourism. With emphasis put on nature pure, the Reed Marshes Area was divided into various functional zones such as Heritage Education, Folk Culture Exhibition in Hongshi Village, Ornamental Aquatic Plants, Aquatic Entertainments, Food and Shopping Center, Marine Life Sightseeing, Agricultural Sightseeing and Sports and Recreation.
