Changshu is situated at a marvelous geographic position, graciously bestowed with abundant resources, which mainly include

1) Crops: mainly rice, wheat, cole, cotton, some oil crops, vegetables and so on.

2) Wild plants: over 270 species in 5 main genera featuring macrophanerophytes, fruitex, medical herbs, fungi and so on.

3) Animals: over 730 species of mammalians and birds.

4) Aquatic products: catfish, shad, saury, exopalamon and so on produced by the Yangtze River, and crucian, grass carp, chub, flat fish, black carp, black shrimp, mitten crab and so on produced by other inland rivers.

5) Minerals: a moderate reserve of kaolin, yellow sand, peat, quartz sand, natural gas and so on.

6) Underground water: mainly quaternary pore water, which is abundant and of great quality because it locates itself between stable strata at an ideal depth. (The geothermal well dug out in Shajiabang town, for example, enjoys a daily gush of 500 stere from a depth of 2,758m, its temperature being over 52℃. The quality of the spring is so fine as to reach the standard of drinking mineral water, which makes it one of the best hot springs in the Yangtze River Delta.
