Changshu City, covering 1,276.32km2 (including the Yangtze River water surface falling under its administration), lies in the southeast of Jiangsu in the Tai Lake plain area between longitudes 120°33ˊ~121°03ˊE and latitudes 120°33ˊ~121°03ˊN. The longest east-west spread of its territory is 49km and the longest north-south spread is 37 km. Neighboring such famous cities as Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi and Nantong, Changshu is blessed with an advantageous location for economic development. It enjoys a subtropical monsoon humid climate favorable to crops harvest, hence the city name (literally, yearly harvest) and its nickname – home to rice and fish. Here, mountains and hillocks (Yushan Mountain and Fushan Mountain) and lakes (Kuncheng Lake, Shanghu Lake, and Nanhu Lake) make a perfect complement to each other.
