Toyota Hydrogen Fuel Cell Auto Experiment Kicking Off in Changshu

Toyota Motor R & D Center (China) Co., Ltd. Saw, on October 30, the domestic demonstration test of “MI-RAI Future," Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. On the same day, Toyota unveiled its the first hydrogen refueling station in China, marking not just Toyota’s accelerating progress in  the new energy vehicle R & D in China, but as well added responsibility to be held by Toyota’s Changshu R & D Center in terms of its  related technology localizations.

"MI-RAI Future," the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to have achieved mass production, stands as a real clean energy car, in the sense that it uses hydrogen as power source, discharges only running water while in motion, releasing zero carbon dioxide. Both its Hydrogen filling and its cruising range offer the same convenience as does a fuel-efficient car. According to plan, Toyota is to put "MI-RAI Future" to empirical test for a three-year long period in terms of “drive-in-China survey,” "hydrogen fuel quality survey," and "quality durability evaluation." All these pilot projects are believed to help Toyota, local government and the automotive industry to jointly explore into a variety of possibilities for a hydrogen energy society.

The popularity of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles just cannot go without infrastructure. Already in service in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou are a total of 6 hydrogen refueling stations constructed by other business enterprises. The hydrogen refueling station put up by Toyota Motor R & D Center (China) Co., Ltd. became Toyota’s first ever hydrogen refueling facility. It is expected that Toyata’s like facilities shall come to 100 globally. On site demonstration shows that it takes only 1 minute and 52 seconds to fill a "MI-RAI Future" with 1.35 kg of hydrogen.
