Townsville Image Exhibit Held in Town


19 Degrees South Latitude:Friendship City Townsville Image Exhibit, a photography show jointly put by Changshu Foreign Affairs Office and the City Federation of Literary & Art Circles, opened to public in Changshu City Library on September 6.

Townsville, a city on the north-eastern coast of Queensland, Australia, stands as Queensland’s northern center in terms of administration, economics, trade and industry. Embracing an area of 3736 square kilometers, the city boasts a population of 229,000. With a tropical setting, the city enjoys abundant sunlight and charming beaches. Particularly noteworthy, the city takes pride in its world-famous marine natural landscape - the Australian Great Barrier Reef.

The two officially became Friendship Cities on April 30, 1995. Over the past couple of years, people exchanges have been on a steady rise, further cementing friendly relations. A number of photographers from Changshu visited Townsville on folk culture exposure tours last year.

During the newly opened show, Photographers from the two cities were ready to present, though their joint lens, the public with a opportunity to feel natural and cultural styles of Townsville.
