The 2016 Sino-British HiSTAR Innovation & Entrepreneurship Summit was held in Changshu on December 16, laying an additional platform for cooperation and exchange between expatriate Chinese talents and local interested parties. Present at the event were 23 leading talents coming from abroad, representative figures that have sown venture capital here in the region, as well as heads of relevant municipal departments.

The Sino-British HiSTAR Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum is designed to transform science & technology innovation into science-tech industry, as well as to shape up a tech-communication & cooperation platform. Since its initiation, the Forum has been playing a most positive role in strengthening the exchange of information between China and Britain, in addition to the promotion of scientific and technological talent cooperation. On the Summit was briefed state of the town with, in particular, the City’s talent program, which was followed by keynote speeches delivered by expatriate Chinese talents who have found their investment home here in the City.

Changshu has, all along, been actively pursuing an innovation driven & talent-strengthening development strategy. With the Leading Talent Agenda taking shape in 2009, the City had, up to the end of 2015, found in its possession 277,000 talents, 19,000 of whom were high level ones. In an effort to help them grow, the municipal government has pushed forward a series of follow-up service programs involving administrative, financial and business sectors. In active assistance is the Talent Service Center which, among others, provides for focused service and guidance. Also in progressive work are training camps, salon and a whole lot of forums ready to assist in financing, legal counseling and business management.

Upon ending up the summit, the guests visited several innovation sites such as Changshu Science & Technology Development Park and Changshu National University Science and Technology Park.
